I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics with minor in Business, and a Masters Degree in Secondary English from the University of Phoenix (3.90 grade point average). I have passed the certification tests for Professional Knowledge and Secondary English for Arizona. I have also passed both certification exams for grades 4-8 and 8-12 English/Language Arts/Reading/Writing to teach in Texas.
Experience
I'm an experienced tutor in all core subjects for all grades. The subjects that I have the most experience in teaching are writing, grammar, and reading along with basic Math through grade 8. For Math, I am very well acquainted with the basic proven method of Saxon Math, as well as teaching with manipulatives using such curriculum as Math U See. For all subjects I have performed extensive research of how children learn and how to accommodate special needs children as well. I also have some experience with the need for accelerated learning for gifted children. My coursework consisted of developing lesson plans and conducting research for both primary and secondary students in the various grade levels of development in writing, reading comprehension, grammar, punctuation skills, and modifications of lesson plans for special needs children. My experience consists of substitute teaching at various local schools in central Texas and tutoring English and Math. My unique method of teaching writing and math skills has proven successful for all of my students so that they always score very high on standardized tests.
